Plant Neighbors

This project is about getting to know my botanical neighbors, an important part of learning to understand my homeplace more deeply. It begins with slowing down, opening my senses, and spending intentional time with the flora around me. I incorporate observational drawing and painting into my morning walks and family outings, hikes and fishing trips around Eagle Rock Lake, along the Rio Grande, beside Costilla Creek, in our yard in Sunshine Valley and beyond. This is an ongoing series that keeps me learning and growing. I’m grateful I get to share this process.

In this series, plant neighbors are portrayed on repurposed flattened tea bags, mounted on watercolor paper, then framed in natural wood frames ready to gift or to hang in your home.
