Plant Neighbors

An important part of deepening my understanding and connection to my homeplace is getting to know my more-than-human neighbors. This project is about meeting and celebrating my beautiful, diverse and fascinating botanical neighbors. It begins with slowing down, opening my senses, and spending intentional time with the flora around me. I incorporate observational plant drawing and painting into my morning walks and family outings, hikes and fishing trips around Eagle Rock Lake, along the Rio Grande, beside Costilla Creek, in our neighborhood in Sunshine Valley and beyond. This is an ongoing series that keeps me learning, growing and more deeply appreciating what’s around me season after season, year after year. I’m grateful I get to share this process in this ongoing series.

Plant Neighbors are portrayed on repurposed flattened tea bags, mounted on watercolor paper, then framed in natural wood frames ready to gift or hang in your home. Each comes with a certificate of authenticity.
